Hi everyone,

My GitHub Education student application has been rejected three times.

For my first two applications, I used official student documents from the Turkish e-Devlet system, issued by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye.

For my third attempt, I obtained a new English, signed and stamped enrollment certificate directly from my school, dated September 11, 2026 and confirming my Grade 12 enrollment for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The latest rejection says the school name, date, and name information are missing or unreadable, even though they are clearly present and my GitHub profile and billing information match the document.

What else can I change before reapplying?

Before another submission, make the evidence easier for the verifier to parse rather than changing the facts: upload the original PDF or an uncropped, high-resolution image if that format is accepted; keep the full page, all four corners, the school name, your name, issue date, and academic year visible; use even lighting and avoid glare, shadows, compression, translation overlays, or handwritten annotations. Make sure your GitHub profile name matches the document exactly, and check that the school appears in the institution selector. If the same clear document is rejected again, stop retrying and request a manual review through the signed-in Education/support flow, describing the three attempts and dates. Keep the certificate and personal identifiers out of this public discussion.

Three rejections with Turkish e-Devlet documents plus English school certificate suggests OCR failure on Turkish characters or PDF format, not invalid student status.

Common e-Devlet OCR issues:

1. e-Devlet PDF screenshots fail because OCR expects physical letterhead photo
2. Turkish characters in name or school name misread
3. English certificate scan good but profile name still Turkish characters mismatch billing Latin fields

Try this sequence:

1. Profile display name exactly as on English stamped certificate from school Sep 11 2026
2. Billing first and last name match that English certificate
3. Submit only the English signed stamped enrollment letter photo, not e-Devlet PDF screenshot in same upload
4. Photo: flat surface, all four corners, school stamp visible, date 2026 to 2027 academic year readable
5. One document per photo frame

If rejected again:

1. support.github.com, GitHub Education, manual review request
2. Attach English certificate and note e-Devlet documents rejected by OCR
3. Reference Grade 12 enrollment 2026 to 2027

Hey, I'm having the same issue but I cannot request indiviudal review since Github no longer supports it, nor is there an option to attach multiple images. I have the digitally signed enrollment document but github has rejected it 4 times already.

@osmankaancesur @honzamoser Thanks for sharing that screenshot, @honzamoser — that's a critical update! Since GitHub Education no longer accepts manual support ticket reviews for student applications, you must get the automated web verification flow to pass.

Here are the exact technical fixes to get past the automated OCR verification for Turkish e-Devlet & English school documents:

1. Fix Character & Name Matching (Most Common Failure Point)

• GitHub Profile Name: Your GitHub Profile Name (Settings → Public Profile) must match your full legal name on the document character-for-character. If your document uses Latin characters without Turkish diacriticals (e.g., C instead of Ç, S instead of Ş, I instead of İ), update your GitHub profile name to match the document's spelling exactly.
• Billing Information: Ensure your GitHub Billing address uses the same full name.

2. Document Capture Rules (Bypassing OCR Auto-Rejections)

• Do NOT Upload PDFs or Digital Screenshots: The automated system routinely flags digital PDF exports, e-Devlet screenshots, or scans as "unreadable/edited."
• Take a Live Web-Cam / Camera Photo: Print the English stamped enrollment document (or your e-Devlet document) onto paper, place it flat under good lighting, and capture a live photo showing all 4 physical corners of the page.
• Location Check: Make sure you are physically located on or near your school's network/campus (or have your device's location enabled) when submitting, as IP geolocation is checked during verification.

3. Verification Details Checklist

• Ensure the date (Sep 11, 2026), school name, and 2026–2027 academic year are fully visible and unblurred in the photo.
• Do not use translation overlays or handwritten notes on the paper.

Once these match, re-submitting via the web flow will allow the automated parser to validate the document successfully without hitting the "unreadable information" loop.
