Hi everyone,

My GitHub Education student application has been rejected multiple times because the verification system shows it cannot confirm the connection between my email and the information I provided.

My official academic qualification documents contain my full legal name in Chinese pinyin.

Set my GitHub profile name to exactly match what is on my academic documents. I have updated my GitHub billing name using the same Chinese pinyin spelling.
I have verified my academic email address.
I have enabled two-factor authentication.
I logged out and back in before reapplying.
I submitted the latest official proof of my academic affiliation using my device's camera.

For privacy reasons, I have not provided my real name, university, email address, student ID number or academic documents here.

The main things to verify are:

Academic email: Make sure the email is verified on the same GitHub account being used for the Education application.
Profile information: Your GitHub profile name should match the name shown on your academic documentation as closely as possible. If your documents use Chinese pinyin, use that exact spelling consistently.
School information: Select the exact institution from GitHub's Education verification form rather than entering a similar institution manually.
Proof of enrollment: Submit a current document that clearly shows your name, institution, and current academic affiliation. A student ID, enrollment certificate, or official enrollment document is generally more useful than unrelated academic records.
Photo quality: If using a camera/photo submission, make sure the entire document is visible, readable, and not blurry or obstructed.
2FA: Keep two-factor authentication enabled, since it is required for GitHub Education benefits.

If all of these are correct and the application is still rejected, don't repeatedly resubmit the same document. The rejection may be coming from the verification service being unable to match the information rather than from a problem with your GitHub account.

You can contact GitHub Support through the official Education Support route and explain that your legal name is represented in Chinese pinyin and that the automated verification cannot establish the connection between your GitHub account and academic documentation. Include the rejection message and the steps you've already completed, but do not post your student ID, academic documents, or personal email publicly.
