Update to current ESLint 10.x

Situation

• The repo is configured for ESLint 9.x
• ESLint 9.x transitioned into EOL on 2026-08-06
• Linting config is external through "@yarnpkg/eslint-config": "^3.0.0" pinned to @yarnpkg/eslint-config@3.1.0 (current latest, published in Sep 2025)

Assessment

• @yarnpkg/eslint-config@3.1.0 is not compatible with ESLint 10.x

Attempting an update to ESLint 10.4.0 (current latest) produces an error:

TypeError: Error while loading rule 'arca/import-ordering': context.getSourceCode is not a function

Options

1. Work with Yarn Berry to produce a new release of @yarnpkg/eslint-config, compatible with ESLint 10.x
2. Remove the external dependency @yarnpkg/eslint-config and create an equivalent ESLint configuration directly into the Corepack repo

This is also relevant before the formal EOL of ESLint 9.x. Even now, ESLint 10.x fixes don't generally get backported to ESLint 9.x.

Issue #837 (TypeError with ESLint) was resolved through #847 by migrating from nodeLinker: pnp to the classic nodeLinker: node-modules on May 15, 2026.

eslint@10.3.0, released May 1, 2026 mitigated the issue, however this could not be used in the short-term, since the repo is fixed at ESLint 9.x.

Updated Assessment

EOL for ESLint 9.x on 2026-08-06 is now just a few weeks away.

The repo remains pinned to @yarnpkg/eslint-config@3.1.0 with dependency eslint-plugin-arca@0.16.0

Running corepack yarn lint fails with

TypeError: Error while loading rule 'arca/import-ordering': context.getSourceCode is not a function

Current latest is now @yarnpkg/eslint-config@3.1.1 which improves ESLint 10 compatibility without completely resolving it.
It has a dependency on eslint-plugin-arca@0.17.0 which specifies the compatible eslint>=10.0.0 through peerDependencies.

The blockage to updating is the potentially the incompatibility of eslint-plugin-react@7.37.5 with ESLint 10 (current latest, released in April 2025). This only shows as an warning during yarn install however. Corepack does not contain any direct react dependencies, and running corepack yarn lint does succeed after updating to

    "@yarnpkg/eslint-config": "^3.1.1",
    "eslint": "^10.7.0",

Suggestion

Review the status of eslint-plugin-react/releases after 2026-08-06.

If there has been a new release of eslint-plugin-react with ESLint 10 compatibility, then update Corepack to test with ESLint 10.

If there has been no new release of eslint-plugin-react, monitor the situation and make decisions accordingly.
